How To Do Amazon Like A Pro

Do you guys even know how happy it makes me that y’all love the Amazon finds as much as I do!? Let’s be real, if we don’t get a package from them AT LEAST once a day…. it’s a weird day! The Roach house loves their amazon!! Just like everyone, I get all of our basics from Amazon, but I also get lots of clothes! Clothes, on Amazon? For cheap? Yup… and it’s not a scam…… well, most of the time! Lol! That is actually why I am writing this post! Ever since I started to dive into Amazon finds more, you guys have been SO curious as to how I find all these things!

Most of you don’t know, but I actually worked for Amazon for quite a while! (I certainly enjoy being the shopper, rather than the worker…… let’s just say, if you ever have to call Amazon Customer Service, be nice…….. it’s freaking ruthless) Anywho!! Since I am an avid amazon shopper AND worked for them, I feel like I know a lot of the tips and tricks! I will list out the three different categories of items sold on Amazon below:

  • “Ships and sold by Amazon”- this item will almost ALWAYS be Prime! These are items that are manufactured or sold directly by Amazon, and also shipped by amazon! These are the #1 MOST trustworthy items to buy.. because they strictly deal with only Amazon!

  • “Sold by ‘blah blah blah’ and fulfilled by Amazon”- This item is almost always Prime as well! These items are items that are sold by an outside party, but shipped to the customer by an Amazon warehouse! A lot of companies get partnerships to sell on Amazon, and send large shipments of products to Amazon warehouses, for amazon to ship out for them! Think of Walmart….. a lot of us get our hair products/makeup products from Walmart, because they are the middle man! L’Oreal doesn’t have an actual store front, they produce product and sell it in Walmart, for consumers to buy! That way, L’Oréal makes a profit, as well as Walmart! So, it is the exact same as Amazon! It’s just on a website rather than a store front! And just like Walmart, if you buy a bad tube of L’Oréal mascara and want to return it, Walmart takes the hit first! Since Walmart takes ownership of products sold and distributed by them, they will accept the return… even though they are not the ones making the product! Does that makes sense? Amazon will take the fall and easily let you return items that are fulfilled by them, because they shipped it to you. Even though the product is made by an outside source!

  • “Shipped and sold by ‘blah blah blah'”- this items are not prime and are the items you want to watch out for! These are more “black web” items! And don’t get me wrong, a lot of them are totally legit, but there’s plenty that aren’t! These items never touch the hands of Amazon employees! This type of item is kinda like an EBay situation….. these companies ask Amazon for permission to post their items for sale on Amazon, but it is strictly for advertising… a way for their items to be seen more. They are completely outside parties- they make their product AND they ship it to you! It never goes through an Amazon warehouse! Since these items are never touched by any Amazon associates…. it is MUCH harder to get a refund if anything go wrong. Amazon will try and reach out to the company on your behalf, but there are no promises for a refund… it’s strictly up to the seller to determine if they want to respond and give you a refund!

  • Now, just some extra info- often times if an item was prime (like the cardigan I showed you guys on stories) and then is no longer prime, it is because the inventory in the Amazon warehouse dropped! So, that amazon warehouse (which is the distribution center for those companies that work with amazon) no longer has any more product to ship out within the 2-day time limit! SO, they will drop the “prime” logo on the item, until the company can send the warehouse more product! Often times the companies are overseas, so Amazon fulfillment centers have to wait for their bulk shipment to come in, before breaking it down and shipping it out to the consume! So, when a prime logo goes away all of the sudden.. it doesn’t mean the product is bad or can’t be trusted- it just means amazon cannot get you your item within the two day period because they are waiting on more inventory! Often times, it will give you a ship date forever away, but in my experience- it usually ships out quicker!

What do you search on Amazon to find all the cute clothes you show?

  • Uhm, hard question to sum up! lol! I honestly do not have a trick… I type in “Womens tank tops”, and then spend a few hours searching until I find a few things I like! That is why I always order things from Amazon before showing you guys! I spend a lot of time searching/reading reviews/shipping methods for you guys before I order something and share it! I would say 90% of the time, I luck out! But, with any online shopping, you will always have a few items that don’t workout!

What are things you look for when finding an item?

  • I check and see if the item is prime- which almost always is a good sign! If the item is prime, the only thing that can go wrong from there, is just you not liking it when it comes! If the item is not prime, but I still really like it, I will check and see if it has reviews. IMPORTANT: I typically just see if it has reviews… if it does, that means the company is more than likely legit, because people have ordered it and have posted reviews. I rarely read the reviews- just make sure it has them! If an item does not have reviews, and is not prime.. I would probably stay away. Or, you are welcome to shoot me a DM and get my opinion.

What about reviews??

  • NOW- LISTEN UP!!! There is nothing I hate more than finding an item, showing y’all, then getting a DM from someone saying there was a review saying the item was weird or itchy. (& don’t take that the wrong way… I love getting feed back from you guys) But, if I take the time to find something and share it with you guys, you can 100% rest assure that I LOVE THE ITEM! I personally think people that write reviews are crabby people. Everyone always has something negative to say. Granted, there are some items that I take the reviews into account… like if 100+ people say it was too small, or something like that. BUT, how many people do you know that write positive reviews? Ya, probably none. So, if you click an item and it has 200+ reviews of people complaining, there are probably an equal amount of 200+ people that enjoy the product! Reviews are nice to have every once in a while, but don’t find that one review that says an item is itchy and decide not to buy the item. Also, I cannot say this enough- IF I SHARE IT ON MY FEED OR STORIES, OR WEAR SOMETHING EVERYDAY (LIKE MY TANNING STUFF, EYELASHES- ALL THINGS I GET FROM AMAZON) I LIKE IT! I wear my magnetic lashes every single day and share them with you guys all the time. Yes, the reviews on amazon are not that great. But, my personal review is great, or I would not share them with you guys and I would not wear them every single day.

I think a lot of it is trusting yourself.. if you like something and you look over the info (things I shared above) buy it. If it looks totally sketchy and theres zero reviews… probably not a good idea. Trust your self. It’s fairly easy to tell if something is not legit… and if you still love the item so much, and you don’t mind wasting your money, buy it! Most of the time, items are under $20.. buy it, and if it ends up as a loss, then so be it. Only $20 on the line.

I hope this info helps! Any tips/tricks that I can give you guys to make your Amazon shopping easier, I am happy to do it!!

    Hello Katy!

Omg I hope this gets to you. I watch your videos all the time. I don’t even remember when I started watching. Your personality is sooo sweet and quirky. You are so freakin pretty and I can’t believe you’re a southerner. I’m from Ga. I currently reside in Philadelphia with my husband. I love you clothes, especially some of the red tank tops and jeans. When I first saw one of your videos, you seemed very friendly and at the time, I really needed a girl’s opinion on life because sometimes living with a boy can mean more time in the bathroom than necessary. Thank you for being you and for being so funny and sharing your opinion about stuff. I always look forward to your videos.

    Have an awesome day girl.

    P.S. I love Chik-Fil-A too.
